Where do you begin?
You have made the decision to get a reading from an intuitive advisor. Now the question is: Where do you begin? A good place to start is to think about why you want a reading. Are you looking for general guidance? Do you have specific questions, or specific issues? Are you willing to listen to advice that you may not want to hear? (Your current career/boyfriend/house may not be the right one for you.) Once you have narrowed down the area that you are looking for answers in, write out the questions that are important to you. Even if your reader does not ask you questions right away, at some point in the reading you will be able to ask any and all questions that you may have. If you have them written down in front of you, you won’t forget them. Also … you can make notes as you go along!
Next, you want to find a reader that you feel comfortable with. If you have a friend who has had an intuitive reading, you may be able to get a referral from them. In most instances, you will be going over a list of readers, trying to determine which would be best for you. This is where your own intuition comes into play. Check the reader’s bio, if they have one up. See how they do their readings, what their focus is, and what they offer their clients. Is the advisor a psychic reader, tarot advisor, astrologer or does he/she specialize in other areas? Make sure that their focus, and what they offer, fits your need. Listen to your own intuition, and go with whoever “feels” right to you.
What if you don’t relate to the reader that you chose?
Sometimes we simply cannot relate to a reader that we thought would be able to help us. As soon as you recognize that this is happening, thank the reader, tell them that you are not relating to what they are saying, and politely terminate the call. Do not be afraid to break into a reading to do this. Politely saying “no” can be very empowering!
Should you try another reader?
This is a personal decision. If you think that the reason that you did not relate to the reader was (a) that you really were not ready to have a reading, or (b) the information they were giving you was accurate, but not something that you wanted to accept, then waiting a few days, or even a few weeks, until you are ready is the thing to do. If you really want to participate in a reading (which is really a dialog between the reader and yourself), then yes, go through the process of finding another reader.
Should I get a second opinion?
If you have gone through one reading, asked all the questions that you wanted to, and are still not sure that the information that you received was what you needed to know, then another reading might be appropriate. This is a decision that you as an individual need to make. However, before you get a second … or third … or fourth reading, ask yourself if the real issue is that you are looking for someone whose input agrees with the opinions that you have already formed. If you truly need/want a second opinion, then only one more reading will be necessary. The decision making process is yours, and you want to make best use of your time and money.
What can I expect from a reading?
An intuitive reader does not carry magic fairy dust that he or she can sprinkle over your life to make it suddenly “all better”. What you can expect is solid advice, relevant to your issues. Your reader will help you to see the options and opportunities open to you, and what the gifts, and consequences, might be with each. Your reading will also address the root of your issues (which may not be what you think that it is), and the energy that is coming up, were you to take no actions. Your reader will leave you with tools (such as the use of affirmations, how to “dream” answers to your questions, templates for decision making, and more.
Because a reading gives you tools to use in your life, it has the effect of reducing the stress that you are experiencing. Reduced stress can lead to better health, and to you allowing yourself to open up to all of the options around you. Psychic readings can open you to your own psychic abilities, to a better understanding of yourself, and a whole new way of dealing with the world around you.
Taking control of your life.
Getting a reading can be the first step in taking control of your life. Your reader will give you a map of how your life is currently functioning, what energy from the past created the present, and what energy is coming up in the future. They will help you to understand that you must stay firmly grounded in the present, so that the past is not dragged along as an obstacle, and so that you make the choices that will help you to create the future that you want.
You reader will help you to see your options/opportunities, and will discuss the benefits and challenges of each option/opportunity with you. You will end your reading feeling much more empowered than when you began. You will have identified your own personal strengths and weaknesses, and you will have begun to form a vision of what you want your future to be. You will have an understanding of how to create your sacred boundaries, and actively put them in place.
Always remember … you are the one in charge of your reading. The focus of the reading should be where you want it to be, and where you can guide it through your questions. Take notes as your reading progresses, making sure that you understand everything that your reader is telling you. Review your notes after the reading, and plan small action steps that will put the energy of your reading into your life.
Above all … have fun!
