December 2014 Forecast
For most people, the month of December is a busy month. Whether your plans include traveling, socializing, or simply snuggling by the fire, it helps to know what the stars have in store for you during the busiest month of the year. Be prepared to take advantage of the energy the stars bring at the beginning of the month as well as the calm that descends as we transition from 2014 to 2015 at the end of the month.
Jupiter Retrograde
You have likely heard of Mercury in retrograde but did you know that other planets also appear to go into retrograde? Jupiter will enter its next retrograde phase on December 9th and will remain in retrograde until March 6, 2015. Jupiter is associated with higher learning, spirituality, philosophy, and long-distance travel. When Jupiter is in retrograde it is as if your energy slows down and perceptions change. Imagine looking out the window of a high speed train that suddenly, and unexpectedly, slows down to a mere 10 m.p.h. The image you see out the window changes and your entire system experiences a jolt. This is what happens when Jupiter goes into retrograde. Because Jupiter, along with several other planets, will be in Leo when this occurs, you may feel as though all your physical as well as creative energy is suddenly sapped out of you. On the plus side, Jupiter is in retrograde it is an excellent time for introspection and self-analysis – just in time for the New Year!
The Personal Planets in December
The Sun moves into Sagittarius for the majority of the month of December with both Mercury and Venus also in Sagittarius for the first ten days of the month. The Moon welcomes the month of December in Aries, another fire sign, making the first few days of December a time of almost frenetic energy as well as fiery tempers. The last ten days of the month, however, reflect a much calmer outlook with the Sun, Mercury, and Venus moving into pragmatic and dependable Capricorn. The New Year will also begin with the Moon in Taurus, another Earth sign, and Mars in Aquarius.
Romance and Sex
If you don’t have a date yet to the office party don’t worry — the first week or so of December will be full of bold romantic moves. With both the Sun and Venus in Sagittarius and the Moon in Aries people will be far more likely than normal to take a chance on love. If you already have a partner, your sex life will heat up after the 5th when Mars moves into Aquarius – expect the unexpected! Finally, if you are hoping your significant other will pop the big question this holiday season, the stars are on your side after the 23rd when both the Sun and Moon move into Capricorn.
- Best days to meet a new love interest: 2, 6
- Best days for sex: 5, 11
- Best days to have a serious talk: 23, 31
Career and Business
If your career is in the arts, or requires creativity, you will be unstoppable for the first ten days of December. Your creativity will shine through for the world (and your boss) to see. Even Jupiter’s tendency to cause hesitation and self-doubt when in retrograde won’t be able to stop you from throwing out one good idea after another during the beginning of the month. If your career does not require creativity you may feel somewhat stifled throughout the first two-thirds of the month. Not to worry, by the last week of the month you will feel as though you have found your equilibrium again.
- Best day to ask for a raise: 7, 26
- Best day to apply for a new job/position: 3, 12
- Best day to start a new business venture: 19, 24
Home and Family
December is traditionally a month when families make plans to spend time together. Even if you have planned to stay close to home this holiday season, don’t be surprised if you find yourself agreeing to a last minute road trip to see family and/or friends. With Venus in Capricorn from the 11th on, your family will become a focal point. Children, in particular, will be important to you whether you have any of your own or not.
- Best days for a family get together: 23, 24 (yes, really!)
- Best days for resolving family conflict: 14, 26
- Best days for staying home: 9, 22
